LORE

In the world of Alentia's Sanctuary, mages live separately from "mortals," those without any magic of their own. Every mage is able to control one of four magical elements and, with enough practice, can unlock immense power. All mages must study to unlock their full potential, and schools like the Sanctuary exist to help hone the skills of young mages as they age. The four elements are listed below.

Each element also contains two "pathways," different classes that focus on different attributes of their parent element, and as mages continue to explore their potential, they are encouraged to select a pathway to train into to strengthen their magical abilities.

WATER MAGIC
KEEPERS OF CURRENTS.
Humanoid creatures' bodies often contain upwards of 80% water, and with their ability to control both water and ice, perhaps it isn't very surprising that quite a few Water mages have an interest in the psychology of their peers, and like to know exactly what makes people tick. Water mages are often very in tune with their own emotions and passions.
FIRE MAGIC
TAMERS OF FLAME.
Powered by the warmth of their blood and the passion of their souls, Fire mages are known for their ability to manipulate both flame and lava, and occasionally even lightning.

Fire mages are known to make passionate leaders who put every ounce of effort they can into the people and causes they love.

AIR MAGIC
SPEAKERS OF STORM.
The wind changes its tune from person to person, and it is with that fluidity that many Air mages approach life. Air mages have an adept understanding of, and an uncanny talent in, social situations, and in their domain of both illusion and weather, many agree that parallels are common.
EARTH MAGIC
HARNESSERS OF LIFE.
The Earth perseveres, and so do its mages. Those with a talent for Earth magic are known for being malleable and tough like the rock they reshape or the trees they help grow. Many Earth mages have earned reputations for being a little more solitary than those of other classes, but many would also say that in the company of nature, one is never truly alone.
