AIR MAGIC
Air magic is known for its fluidity and unpredictability. Water mages often find kinship with air mages due to both elements’ keen fascination with the changing nature of things. However, where water magic often is content to sit back and allow nature to take its course, air magicians tend to be the ones to cause any change they can on their own terms, whether that is for research purposes, curiosity, or simply to cause a shift for their own amusement. Air mages often have strong personalities, though this varies both from person to person and also heavily between subclasses.
All air mages have the ability to fly with lots of practice, talk to birds or some sky-dwelling dragons, and all have some degree of heightened senses that rely on air, such as smell or hearing. It’s easy for an air mage to sense disturbances in the world around them that may hint at another body nearby, or have a sound from a little further away than the average person’s hearing range reach their ear easily, as well as smells or heat impressions left from touch or movement. Air mages often make good trackers, particularly those with interests in psychology.

SKYSPINNERS
Skyspinners are often the “extroverts” of the air class. Naturally, this does not imply that all Skyspinners are true extroverts, as this seems to be less and less the case with time. Truly, this figure of speech mainly serves to highlight the notion that Skyspinners are some of the best mages to navigate social situations. Their minds have little problem reading people, and for many, social interactions come naturally. Skyspinners often find joy in working with people, and make good leaders or second-in-commands.
This subclass has been hailed as some of the best storytellers, and It isn't uncommon to find a group of people completely entranced by a Skyspinner's tale, illustrated here and there by little visual tricks. Skyspinners can exhibit their charisma in many ways: many are considered to have that "people person" touch and will find common ground with anyone, though others find it easier to stick to (and lead) groups of people they have the most in common with. Some Skyspinners find that their charismatic side is a bit of a song and dance to put on every day, rather than their peers who find it comes naturally, and it is a common stereotype to think Skyspinners "untrustworthy" or "dangerous" because of a number of past Skyspinners who have been manipulative or two-faced, using their illusory magic to trick and bend the emotions of others. This is reflected in the factoid that a good number of Skyspinners have gone on to be stage magicians, CEOs, politicians, or snake oil salesmen.
CLOUDTURNERS
If Skyspinners are rumouredly untrustworthy because of how much time they spend in the public eye, Cloudturners are so due to how much time they spend out of it. Cloudturners skew towards the “mysterious” side of the Air mages, preferring to keep to themselves and tuck any vulnerabilities or personality away into the shadows, except for the careful parts they deem safe to display. It's not uncommon for many people to be acquainted with a Cloudturner, with none of them feeling as if they actually know them. It's also equally common for many people to have heard of a Cloudturner but not have seen or met them with all the time they spend on their own. For Cloudturner mages who lean towards academics or have large interests in niche subjects, it is very easy to become withdrawn and solitary as they pour all of themselves into their research, passions, or projects. It is believed that this is where the stereotype of "wizards in towers" comes from, as the air around Cloudturners has been known to freeze when in deep focus or frustration.
Cloudturners can often come across as the quiet, mischievous, or pretentious academic types, or perhaps as the louder person in a group of friends who shares nothing about their personal life.
ABILITIES
The realm of the Skyspinner is that of illusions. Much like the air element’s patron deity, Skyspinners have a natural ability to bend the air and world around them. Most Skyspinners do not have the skill to create a full-body, touchable illusion, but most can at least manage a sort of wispy suggestion of a person nearby with little practice. To throw or distort one’s voice is also a common trick, or to conjure a gust of wind with the intention of simulating a phantom touch. Wind gusts are also popularly used to transport audible messages some distance, akin to leaving a voicemail or sending a telegraph. Small pictures can be conjured through sunlight and wind with the addition of a little bit of water, similar to a rainbow, and used to illustrate ideas or embellish stories, which Skyspinners in particular are wont to do.
ABILITIES
Cloudturners are the pathway most concerned with weather. Their emotions, as well as careful manipulation, have the unique ability to bring forth storms of any calibre, be they something so minor as a drizzle or as extreme as a hurricane. Cloudturners tend to be stronger fliers than Skyspinners due to their aptitude for strong winds aiding them in lifting themself a little higher and moving a little faster. Cloudturners can, as their name suggests, create both clouds and almost any type of weather on command, given enough practice. A thunderstorm, naturally, takes quite a bit less skill and effort to conjure than a tornado. Cloudturners are also capable of talking to wind nymphs, and have closer ties with them than the average Skyspinner, and also tend to take to walking on clouds, a trait unique to the air class.
